A Tribute Post to iconic Anna Piaggi

Some of you fashionistas may know the name, but for many in the mainstream world, the name Anna Piaggi doesn’t ring a bell...certainly not as much as the names Anna Wintour or Andre Leon Talley do…but believe me, Anna Piaggi was a beacon of true fashion and an inspiration to all that knew her and of her.
She began her path into the fashion world by writing for magazines like Italian Vogue and Vanity…eventually moving up to a more prominent position that allowed her to truly express her creative freedom. It was then that Anna Piaggi began drawing attention to herself by creating extravagant double page spreads for Italian Vogue. Continuing individuality to real life, she often wore very unique ensembles and never repeated looks. She was a great source of fashion knowledge and a friend to many designers…some have even called her a muse.

Her closet was the envy of any true fashion lover…boasting over 2,800 dresses and 265 pairs of shoes…and so interesting was her wardrobe and her take on fashion that the Victoria and Albert Museum in London did an exhibition in 2006; Anna Piaggi: Fashion-ology. Always spotted in the front row at the most important fashion shows, she reminded the world that fashion is not meant to be categorized nor followed…but to be explored and even better…to be created.
Anna Piaggi passed away today and the fashion world mourns the loss of a creative mind, a free spirit and truly glamorous soul. Here are some of my favorite looks (and there are thousands of them so Google away to see even more) from her:
